Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit this website or buy Algorithms Simplified, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
This website and the book Algorithms Simplified — A Minimalist Approach to Problem-Solving are published by Rohith B V, trading as Facile Publishing (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question you can reach us at explorer.rohith@gmail.com.
For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the “controller” of the personal information described below.
The information we collect
- Information you give us directly — for example your name and email address if you contact us, or if you choose to join a mailing list.
- Purchase information — when you buy the book, the payment is handled by our third-party checkout and payment provider. That provider collects your payment details and shares limited order information with us (such as your name, email, country, and what you bought). We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Technical and usage information — like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and to keep the site running. With your consent, we also use Microsoft Clarity, an analytics tool that helps us understand how visitors use the site — for example pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, and aggregated session recordings and heatmaps. Clarity sets cookies and is provided by Microsoft. We use it only to improve the site, never to identify you personally, and it loads only if you accept analytics cookies in the banner shown on your first visit.
- Advertising measurement — with your consent, we use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, and Google Analytics 4 to measure how our ads perform — for example whether visitors who arrive from an ad reach our checkout and complete a purchase. These tools set cookies and send limited event data (such as page views, checkout starts, purchases, and technical identifiers like your IP address and ad-click identifiers) to Meta Platforms, Inc. and Google LLC respectively. They load only if you accept advertising cookies in the banner, and never fire if you decline. Where you accept advertising cookies, we also send a server-to-server Purchase event after payment completes (including a hashed version of your email and the order amount) to Meta and Google, so that ad performance can be measured even when browser-side tracking is interrupted by redirects, ad blockers, or closed tabs.
How we use your information
- To process your order, deliver the book, and provide customer support.
- To respond to your enquiries.
- To send you updates or marketing only if you have asked us to; you can opt out at any time.
- To keep records and meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
- To protect the security and integrity of this website.
Our legal bases
We rely on: performance of a contract (to fulfil your order); your consent (for optional marketing and analytics cookies); our legitimate interests (to run and secure the site and respond to enquiries); and legal obligation (to keep tax and accounting records).
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the business — for example our payment/checkout provider, our analytics provider (Microsoft Clarity), our advertising and measurement providers (Meta Platforms, Inc. and Google LLC), and our email or hosting providers — and only as far as needed to provide their service. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, and as required to meet legal and tax obligations (in the UK, financial records are generally kept for six years).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us at explorer.rohith@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Essential cookies keep the site working and are always on. Analytics cookies (Microsoft Clarity, Google Analytics 4) and advertising cookies (the Meta/Facebook Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking) are used only if you select “Accept” in the cookie banner shown on your first visit. We do not load any of these tools until you accept; if you decline, none are set.
You can change your decision at any time: clear this site’s cookies and stored data in your browser to be asked again, or block cookies through your browser settings (doing so may affect how parts of the site work). To learn how these providers handle your data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement, the Meta Privacy Policy, and the Google Privacy Policy.
Children
This website and product are intended for a general adult audience and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above.
